Arena.Net's John Peters has written an extensive look at the Attribute and Traits that will ship with Guild Wars 2. The blog post goes into great detail about the differences between the two and why the dev team feels like traits aren't just a grand theoretical idea but are a way to make a player's character their own.
As a player, the new trait system has made me think harder when building a character and has made me really excited every time I hit a level over 11.
For the first time, traits dont feel like just a great theoretical idea. They feel like the system they were meant to beone that makes my warrior mine. Do I put 30 points in Defense, 30 in Tactics, and 10 in Discipline, to maximize survivability and major traits? Maybe a less traditional build with 26 points in Strength, 26 in Mastery, and 18 in Discipline would work better for my play style. The choices are actually staggering at times, but dont worry, youll have hundreds of hours to turn the knobs to your hearts content.
Treat yourself to a great Tuesday read on the Guild Wars 2 site.

Guild Wars and Guild Wars two fanatics, did you're keen on the Commando course? Were being you dissatisfied that it had been all an elaborate joke? Did you're keen on the concept of detonating bombs, flinging grenades, and placing mines in Guild Wars two?
Properly, that is heading to get a quality working day available for you, for the reason that ArenaNet has declared the seventh job: the Engineer. Although its not the Commando course for each se, the Engineer is explained as "a grasp of mechanical mayhem" and seems to generally be the category that'll satisfy all of your current most explosive gameplay needs.
Willing to test it out in depth? We have acquired 5 ability movies precise within a row together with a rundown within the Engineer's capabilities, so go along with alongside when the leap and let us choose a glance!
Let us get started with all the video clip, which displays 5 ability an individual following the opposite: Rifle Turret, Glue Shot, Soar Shot, Grenade Satchel, and Take in. They appear awesome, but all the more significantly they illustrate the flexibility with the course. Even if you aspire to snare, protect, receive the bounce over a pack of unsuspecting foes, or just bargain a huge amount of hurt, you will find a specific thing inside of the Engineer's arsenal to perform just that.
The Engineer seems to possess additional interesting -- and lethal -- toys than Batman including a talent established crafted to create some of the most of these. He can wield a rifle, twin pistols, or possibly a pistol/shield mix, but that only skims the surface area of his bag of methods.
Admirers who may have been subsequent GW2 enhancement will understand that participant knowledge are partly dictated through the weapon the participant is now wielding. When you're wielding a rifle, by way of example, you can expect to have 5 rifle-based ability. Engineers are likely to consider this a move additional because of Backpack Kits: "When triggered, these exceptional utility kits equip a backpack in the engineer's back again, which replaces the engineer's recent weapon competencies with skill-sets on the backpack package. For instance, a bomb package will place a bomb backpack about the engineer, letting [him] to deploy a range of bombs this includes smoke, concussion, and fireplace." There is 5 different kinds of backpack kits to fit your playstyle, which includes a med package for heals.
Imagine if slinging bombs just isn't very your matter? Fearfulness not, for the reason that Engineer's relatively adaptable. Weapon Kits are an extra new component -- they are utility competencies that equip a completely new weapon (and established of weapon skill-sets) when triggered. Flamethrower, just about anyone? That is certainly suitable, the Engineer can equip a flamethrower to be a short-range AoE weapon, and it is included with a fairly remarkable established of weapon skillsets. AoE-flee is much less of the predicament due to the Backdraft talent, which sucks fleeing enemies again into assortment. Air Blast is an additional convenient talent, one which will deflect incoming ranged assaults.
Hope to get much more of your stationary or guidance part? Convey to the turrets! Turrets are specifically what you are imagining: "a assortment of motionless allied equipment that may assist protect and management region." Turrets are stationary, but make no miscalculation: They are no significantly less important. Turrets can destruction, snare, and perhaps cure dependent on which kind you utilize. One can find 5 sorts of turrets: Rifle, Thumper, Internet, Flame, and Therapeutic.
But wait around, you can find even more! After you deploy a turret, "the slot for that turret toggles into an overcharge ability. The Thumper Turret, for instance, is actually a turret that does AoE problems but is usually overcharged to perform a major thump assault that knocks down close by enemies." Ultimately, turrets will be packed up, moved, and re-deployed being a struggle moves and progresses, so you are not remaining at the rear of.
Simply because Engineers' smarts please don't start out and conclude with equipment, elixirs are element on the class' lineup. Engineers possess a expertise for alchemy along with a mastery potions of which might mend, buff, and a lot more. Better still, you can easily hearth them to the battlefield or for your allies having a gun. What is to not enjoy?
You can find a wild card included the following, while. Alchemy by its highly mother nature generally is a tiny unpredictable, so you're going to really have to assume the unforeseen: "Elixirs all have some random ingredient to them. For instance, Elixir X can be an unstable method that when used presents the engineer a random Elite electricity from an additional career."
All in all, the Engineer seems like an very multipurpose and formidable course -- arguably far more so than some we have noticed for Guild Wars two beforehand. Just want to see alot more? Look at the gallery underneath from the Engineer's arsenal, and hold an eye fixed out for our distinctive job interview with ArenaNet within the Engineer!

During this week's GStar in South Korea, the Guild Wars 2 team showed a new video showing off some pretty impressive character customization. In a new blog post on the Guild Wars 2 site, Eric Flannum dissects the video that outlines some of the new/improved features shown.
With Guild Wars 2, we are giving our players many different ways to customize their characters, and weve revamped a number of the systems involved: armor dye, hair style and color, skin color, and face style. Weve also added a physique or body-type feature and a face-customization system. With face customization, we will give players the ability to change the size and shape of major facial features: eyes, nose, mouth, chin, and jaw. With all of our customization options, every player will be able to differentiate themselves from the crowd.

Arena.Net's Jonathan Sharp has penned a new blog post on the official Guild Wars 2 site to discuss underwater combat. The post deals with ways to fight underwater, special underwater skills, surface swimming as a no-combat zone, special underwater weaponry, and what fighting in a true 3D space means.
If you want to go full-on underwater, just tilt your camera down and keep moving forward you will dive below the waves. When this happens, you will automagically switch to your underwater weapon set, your underwater skill setup, and your breathing device.
For the more adventurous among you, there are other ways to go straight into underwater combat. Imagine youre running away from enemy mobs towards a cliffs edge. Theyre getting closer.. arrows are flying by you, barely missing you ; Spells explode behind you, singing your clothes ; Rifle and pistol bullets richochet past you, nearly taking your legs out from under you ; Theres nowher ;to go... until you jump off the cliff and land in the water far, far below ; The second you hit water youre ready to go you switch to underwater mode, pull out your underwater weapon, and start swimming while your pursuers yell and curse!
