On Wednesday, Alaska Senate President Gary Stevens (R) said is it "unlikely" that lawmakers could obtain enough votes to override Gov. Sean Parnell's (R) veto of funding that would have expanded Denali KidCare, a program that covers health care costs for low-income women and children, the Anchorage Daily News reports. The veto override would require a joint meeting between the House and Senate, as well as the support of 45 of the 60 legislators.
Citing abortion-related issues, Parnell struck nearly $3 million from the state budget that would have added an estimated 1,300 children and 218 pregnant women to Denali KidCare,trx suspension trainer.
