Two French explorers made their presence felt in South Dakota in 1742. In 1804 two brothers passed through Dakota on their journey to Pacific Ocean and came back two years later to host American Flag. President established this state's boundaries in 1861. In 1874, rumors of Gold found were heard leading to a rush of public to this state. In 1889, North and South Dakota was admitted to US as 29th and 30th state. In 1944, congress executed a plan and made 4 dams on River Mississippi. In 1948,Oriental Escorts, carvings began on Black Hills. In 1989, it celebrated its 100th birthday. A historic town, Deadwood, that has Mount Moriah Cemetery and Adam's Museum. South Dakota history can be seen at Cultural Heritage Center, from the American Indians to pioneers that came later,Central Beijing Massage. It also tells story of Great Sioux Nation. DeSmet is a little town where Laura Ingalls Wilder used to live. It has many artifacts of her family. Archeodome has an archeological dig where Indian villages of the 10th century can be seen. Archeodome is the only site with this facility. A driving route that follows the Missouri River is a trail called South Dakota's Lewis and Clark Trail. Trail markers that are posted on its route, give information about these two. Lodges are located near this trail. Situated on Dakota's Black Hills, Mount Rushmore National Memorial displays the first five Presidents of USA. The world's largest sculpture, Crazy Horse Memorial is still being made. Once completed it will 563ft in height and 641ft long. A thing to be seen. Badlands National Park is spread in 244000 acres of grassy land, jagged spires and steep canyons. Located in Mitchell, World's Only Corn Palace has huge paintings on its walls created with bundles of grain and grasses and ears of corn. Each year its paintings are changed by new designs. State's largest city got its name from Falls of the Big Sioux. A viewing tower overlooks this scene presenting a marvelous view. Cluster State Park is the largest of South Dakota and it covers 73000 acres on Black Hills,A Pair Of The Most Famous Art Sculptures. It also has around 1500 bison. One of the best-preserved Forts of the US is Fort Sisseston that was established in 1864. Many of its buildings have withered with time. George S. Mickelson Trail follows the abandoned Burlington Northern rail line. Its 114-mile route passes through stands of spruce, pine and aspen and rugged granite formations. It is available to hikers, bicyclists, bikers and horse riders. In West of Yankton, Lewis and Clark Recreation Area is a boating and sailing paradise. Its lake is sprawls over 30 miles and camping is available on its shores. Located in northeast of South Dakota, Roy Lake State Park is a 2000 acres glacial lake famous for fishing, hunting and recreational activities. To take rest after a fun-filled you need to come to Farm Island Recreation Area, which is situated on shores of Missouri River. Black Hills Forest Area covers 125 miles long and 65 miles wide area of forestlands with usual facilities. There are four lodges at Custer State Park with different purposes. The State Game Lodge used to serve as summer White House for President Calvin. Blue Bell lodge has a Western dude ranch theme. The other two overlook sparkling mountain lakes. Visitors can also climb Harney Peak, the highest after Rocky Mountains.
