swelter Sometimes, this city seems out to break you. It needles you, it shoves,Berries with Citrus and Vanilla Mascarpone, it pokes you in the side – not hard, but hard enough to make you yelp. Yelp loud enough to throw your balance. It bullies, demands you admit how hard it is when it’s as hot as it is. This walking ten blocks to do the simplest of things; this waiting in broiling filthy heat in tubes below the city Ohmygod will the train NEVER come? Your clothes pasted to your body; your third shower today, and yet you’re still swimming in it. And the smell, oh god the stench. The trash bins after a holiday weekend, rotting, swarming with flies. How could any place so positive smell so pungent? How could any place that smells so rank be good for you, michael kors outlet onilne? How can you tell me with a clear head and sound logic that after diving indoors and throwing your shirt off in front of the air conditioner on the Super Arctic Blast setting that you didn’t wish you had the same life, just somewhere else sometimes? At least until the heat passes, or the sky breaks open and rains the humidity into the ground. It’s a test, a game, like seeing how long you can hold your breath under water in the backyard pool with your best friend, how far you can get across the season before hoping for it’s demise. Typically by March, I’m itching for a heat wave, and while I try, I really do, to hold out until Indian Summer, today the city heat broke me early. I drank a quart of water during the last ten minutes of an errand (to get burgers, for lovely summer things like grilling; to get new panties, for lovely summer things like prancing around the apartment in a whole lot less because it’s too damn hot to wear more). I tried to chug my water and say things like, “It’s not the heat – it’s the humidity!” I paced, “three more blocks, two more blocks… it’s not a big deal”. I tried to keep my emotions intact, but then the bees swarming off the dumpster near our corner got too close and I lost it: “We. Have. To. Move.” And I’m sorry New York. Don't be mad. I’m cooled off in the apartment now, and I didn’t mean it,michael kors factory outlet. I take it back. I only get angry because I care about you so much. We’re going to work it out. comments (19) July 5, 2004 08:59 PM July 5, 2004 11:25 PM July 6,michael kors outlet, 2004 09:44 AM July 6, 2004 09:56 AM July 6, 2004 10:14 AM bionicroach July 6, 2004 10:54 AM July 6, 2004 12:11 PM July 6, 2004 12:17 PM July 6, 2004 12:38 PM July 6, 2004 01:59 PM July 6, 2004 02:42 PM July 6, 2004 03:08 PM bionicroach July 6, 2004 05:48 PM July 6, 2004 10:57 PM July 6, 2004 11:44 PM July 7, 2004 05:39 AM sara July 7, 2004 02:23 PM July 7, 2004 03:06 PM July 7, 2004 06:16 PM post a comment URL: Remember Me?YesNo Comments: (you may use HTML tags for style)
