The Closet - Lakeview - Chicago, IL

Oh, another Closet "memory" I thought I'd share with y'all...
A long - time Closet patron passed away a few years ago. ?This person's circle of friends were regulars, some of them dropped hundreds of bux per month there...they were the "regulars" that were there day - in and day - out, the bread and butter of a bar's business. ?These steady regulars pay the bills...
Anyways, after the memorial service at the Methodist Church across the way friends and family met afterward at the Closet to have some drinks and partake of a buffet of nice food that was provided by the friends and associates of the deceased. ?The pastor (Rev. Dell) who presided over the service even announced at the end of the service, "After we are done here, everyone is invited over to the Closet to toast to our friend's memory"...
So everybody goes over to the Closet and the place is JAMMED - three bartenders pumping to serve the patrons, it was busier than any late Saturday night...they must have rang a coupla thousand, pretty good for a cold February afternoon.
When someone later asked owner Judy why she and co - owner Rose weren't there Judy coldy replied, "We don't play favorites..." [!!!]
So this is the retarded mentality of the Closet owners: even if you and your friends spend YEARS and THOUSANDS of dollars in their place of business DON'T expect them to miss you when you croak - or even acknowledge that you were ALIVE...
What can you say...???
It's just the sort of ?"speechless" moment that can result if you hang out at ?the Closet long enough, lol...
A few years back several popular Closet bartenders were canned. ?Hey, it happens! ?But the kicker was that these bartenders' regular CUSTOMERS were "banned", some had been going there for DECADES. ?Some of us "banned" folks had also put lotsa bux into the Closet football pool and some of us had "trouble" collecting our winnings (I had several hundred dollars due me); we had to practically get all medieval on nasty bartender Karen (who ran the pool) to collect...
And then the owners and staff of the place wonder why business is often slow...
Why are SO many lesbian bars owned and staffed by such obvious sociopaths and malcontents who have NO business at all being in the "hospitality business"...??? ?Such dregs and losers...and people wonder why I'm not more "supportive" of "our gay community", lol.
"Oh well..."
PS: ,closet design? There are two new bartenders here who appear to be relatively normal human beings, one on the day shift mercifully replaces the nasty, toad - like, incessantly gossiping Donna. ?That still leaves brain - damaged Lisa, the churlish Tabitha, and the infamously awful Karen..so take yer "pick"..
