The strip is very long (3 miles) and there are also options for off strip hotels as well. It all depends on what is the best fit for you. Sin City hotels can be broken down into 3 on strip areas and 3 off strip areas. Below are descriptions off all:

The hotels surround a man made lake where you can go boating and just hang out. It definitely has a Palm Springs meets Sin City type vibe. Below is a list of Lake Las Vegas hotels:
Westin Lake Las Vegas
Ravella
No matter where you decided to stay it is very important you find the hotel that matches what you are looking for. There are so many options in Sin City and there is definitely a hotel that matches every tastes and budget. If you are looking for a deal definitely stay away from Friday and Saturday nights. Vegas is always busy and the majority of the strip hotels run in the mid 90% in occupancy levels. However, there are many deals to be found especially during mid week. The iPhone and Android app "Hotel Tonight" is a great source for same day hotel bookings if that works for you. Also, pay attention to what is going on in town. Sin City is home to many convention and special events throughout the year. You can pay a premium if you are coming during a big convention, a holiday weekend, a fight weekend, etc. The second half of November and mid December is the off season in Sin City.
