Georgia just blew up on LSU, Penn State went into the Horseshoe and won a hard fought defensive battle, Texas?Colt McCoy showed that he was human, but still was able to get the win, and USC found themselves in a battle, but thanks to that defense, they were able to love Arizona with a win. We also had some great football games this weekend as well. And in those games, we had some great performances by individual players. So let's begin by looking at those players who had great games but their teams lost. Players that played great in a losing cause Josh Freeman (Kansas State) tried his best to match the fire power of Oklahoma. He passed for more yards than Sam Bradford; he threw as many touchdowns as Sam Bradford, in a small way, he outplayed Sam Bradford. But unlike Sam Bradford, he also threw to the wrong team. Freeman was 29-51 for 478 yards and 3 touchdowns. Freeman also had 3 interceptions for the day as well. LeSean McCoy found himself trying to out duel a quarterback, but he fell short. Steele first touchdown came on a 10 yard run that turned a Tiger 24-23 deficit to a 24-29 lead. His second touchdown would give the Tigers a 24-36 lead and would seal a 36-30 win. Defense of the Week Notre Dame completed, and totally controlled Washington. The Fighting Irish shut down Washington, only allowing 9 first downs in the entire game. Washington only managed a pitiful 124 yards of total offense. That would be 98 yards passing and 26 yards rushing. That would be 2.6 yards per play. And Washington only touchdown came in the 4th quarter with 3 minutes left in the game on a 69 yard scoring drive against Notre Dame backups. So of the 124 yard of total offense, 69 yards came on the final drive. Now that is great defense. Offense of the Week Texas Tech offense was on display for all the country to see. Not only did Tech roll Kansas for 418 yards passing with 6 passing touchdowns, but Tech also rushed for 138 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. It was an offense that was clicking on all cylinders. And it is happening at a good time as Tech has the #1 Texas Longhorns coming to town. Tech was 9-13 on third down and 1-1 on forth down. Tech only had 1 punt in the entire game. Let see if Tech can continue this offensive performance against Texas. Player of the Week Jarrod Johnson (Texas A&M) led A&M to their first win in three games as Johnson had a career day. Though the Aggies run game has not been where it usually is, the Aggies have found a quarterback that can rival most in the Big 12.
